Become a Nuisance for Justice

For my brothers and sisters in Christ, I'm going to go old-school sermon for a moment. Let's start with scripture:

Luke 18:1-8 New International Version (NIV)
The Parable of the Persistent Widow
1 Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. 2 He said: “In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared what people thought. 3 And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, ‘Grant me justice against my adversary.’

4 “For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, ‘Even though I don’t fear God or care what people think, 5 yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually come and attack me!’”

6 And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says. 7 And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? 8 I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?”

And now the message:

We need to become like the widow to the judge. We need to become a nuisance to those in power until our nation has a better system. We need to cry, day after day, for justice. Please, for our brothers and sisters most affected by this, do one or more of these things:

Protest. I cannot, so I understand if you cannot, but also do not attempt to silence those who do so peacefully. They are not criticizing every policeman, they are asking for justice for when the bad ones do bad things.

Donate. Again, I cannot, I have limited funds, so I understand if you cannot. I personally suggest Campaign Zero, but find a reliable charity and give what you can, or at least, give more to your church and beg your church leadership to find a way to use it to help.

Become a Nuisance: contact your legislators, your local government, your state government, your federal government, and tell them that you need them to work together to change things, to prove that they have changed, and to seek justice. A great resource for this is Resistbot, as they will help you reach out to your government officials about this, for free.

I am not an ordained pastor, and I am not part of a non-profit organization, so I am not breaking the law when I say these things. This is not a partisan political issue, this is about making an America that is truly the greatest nation in the world, and that is what I want for my country. We are one nation, under God, and God does not turn away from His children when they are suffering, and neither should we.
